- As Ambassador of Aloha
Aloha meant to express affection, love, compassion, peace, mercy.
Derived from a compound of the Hawaiian words “alo” – presence, front, face, to share, and “ha” – the breath of life.
- Duke was officially named the Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha in 1959, upon Hawaii achieving statehood. A role he had played for many years as Hawaii’s most famous citizen.
